"Being diagnosed and treated for breast cancer was difficult and overwhelming, but the experience made me reevaluate how I spent my time," writes Nancy Wright, a Wake-Up Call reader from Massachusetts. "I left a job I disliked and decided to devote my time to something more meaningful."
That led her to the Ellie Fund, which provides free aid to any and every breast cancer patient who receives care in the state. That includes grocery assistance, meal prep, light housekeeping, childcare reimbursement, transportation to medical appointments, and more. "I began volunteering during my own treatment, which helped me to heal while I was helping other people with breast cancer, many disadvantaged," Nancy says.
If you read our lead story today, you know Massachusetts has one of the highest incidence rates of breast cancer in the country. Anyone seeking care there can learn more about the Ellie Fund's essential work right here. |
